Amazing story. One of the best articles (about Christian music) I read in a long time.
Walk with God John James. I look forward to the reunion tour.

WOW,I wondered what happened to John! It must feel like a huge weight has lifted-to be able to share everything ,holding back nothing-and how that encourages SO many others to do the same-VERY POWERFUL!!!In case John reads any of these comments: be encouraged that your honesty is refreshing and potentially life-changing to all who read your testimony. The songs you wrote (and hopefully WILL write) are still some of my favorites-a true legacy in that era of ,not only Newsboys , but in the evolution of Christian music

No one could imagine about all of those things had happened with John James and the Newsboys. Is good to know about that because we can see the hand of our almighty and powerful God. This article had made me cry to see how He is mercyful.
God be with all of you.

I remember taking my youth group to the Newsboys concert at Western Carolina University aroiund 1995. John was awesome. The only thing better than his singing/performing was his preaching! I have often wondered what happened to the bald "wild Aussie" on stage that obviously was in love with Jesus! It's great to read his story and know that he is as human as everybody else. God Bless John and his family!

I'm glad you had the opportunity to interview John James. As a brother in Christ, I had always wondered what happened to him and why he left the Newsboys. Now that I know the truth, I admire John now even more than I did during his "glory" days. It's easy to call yourself a Christian when everything's going well in your life or when you're doing everything perfectly. But the fact that John was willing to do what it took to get his life back on track, despite the public shame and embarrassment he probably went through, shows more character than any of the albums or concerts he helped produce. Way to go, John. Thanks for your testimony.

Wow, I had no idea that is what happened. I am so thankful that the Lord works is such ways to bring John James back to where He wants him. The Lord will use his aweful past to make a beautiful future...What an amazing story, sad but good.

What an awesome story of the grace of God. I always wondered what happened to John, but I did pray for him. I remember in 1996, I was a part of a large event in DC called Washington For Jesus and the Newsboys were there. I was backstage, while my wife and some other youth leaders were hosting them and we noticed some issues at the time, that were disheartening. A few years later, after John left the band, the rest of the Newsboys did an interview in CCM about how they had lost focus and regained it. We had them do a concert at our church, were I was the Youth Director, and I could see a big change in the guys. I'm so happy to hear that James is following wholly after God and that his marriage has been restored. I'm a Sr. Pastor now, but I still love to listen to the Newsboys.

beautiful testimony... i know the power that john is talking about!!! Thank the Lord... I myself had not heard of the newsboys til 1995 during the approximate time this was going on. God works in miraculous ways and i would want to tell john james or anybody else reading this comment to not give up on God in anything, he loves us all even when we aren't worthy...

Thank you Mike for the article.
Addiction knows no boundries. I know that for sure. So often when we become Christians we forget that there will still be valleys, some deeper than others. But we have a loving and forgiving God who never leaves our side and picks us up when we fall.
