A massive release from the three girls put together by Lawrence Johnson of Nu Colours to fill the gap in the secular market for a Christian R&B group. That's not to say that this is an all-gospel album, but they do make it very clear in the inlay what their beliefs are all about. The sheer length of the album means it's easier to listen to in bits rather than in one go, as by the 18th track some of the songs, though generally very good, start to sound just a bit samey. All the songs from their two single releases, "Treat U Right" and "The Finest" are included, as are the songs from the original Truce EP', most in (slightly) different versions. Standout tracks? Radio-friendly "Celebration Of Life", social responsibility song "Survive" and down-tempo "Still Waters" all work well but do lack that certain something needed to compete with a big-bucks R&B group. The most effective tracks, and dare I say, the ones that TRUCE seem happiest singing are the gospel-oriented tracks "Better Days" and "Friend You Need" (the best mid-tempo song I've heard in a long while and one that should be released as a single immediately!). The album isn't going to appeal to everyone and some may have preferred to hear more gospel songs, but you're gonna find something of interest here.
