Pulling together a near full set of songs from the excellent 'The Beautiful Letdown' album, Switchfoot deliver a full-throttle performance of anthemic melodic rock from their home-town. With a fairly conservative approach to visuals, the digital video disc nevertheless captures the show adequately for the Switchfoot fan and others who may wish to find out what the band's buzz is all about. Having said that, in the early parts of the recording, frontman Jon Foreman's vocals are a bit on the weak side until a bit of post production dubbing appears to come to the rescue. Maybe after a long tour, strain on the voice required audio adrenaline, but the lilting lyrics still work their oracle. "Yesterday is a wrinkle on your forehead/Yesterday is a promise that you've broken/Don't close your eyes/This is your life/And today is all you've got now," exemplifies the clever and poignant phrasing that threads through the course of the set of songs that attempt to draw the listener and viewer to a life that is "more than just okay". Featuring interviews with band members as well as the "Meant To Live" video as extras, and in the course of the gig "Learning To Breathe" from their previous same-titled album. The San Diego rockers who are today America's most popular Christian rock band, show they're here for the long haul.
