Let the fevered musical imaginations of Mark Edwards and Bruce Pont (office address The Mad House) loose on 12 of the most popular children's songs of the moment, throw in two children's choirs, and this is the result. If you've ever wondered how Nina Simone would approach "We Want To See Jesus Lifted High," wonder no more, it's on here, as is a very Eastern-sounding version of Martin Smith's "Happy Song" that somehow finishes up as "Auld Lang Syne". This is a good selection of songs though, and, usefully for parents and Sunday School teachers, all (he backing tracks are included as well. Most of the adaptations grew on me, and gave the songs a new lease of life. But the "Happy Song" I found the least satisfactory - the backing often swamps the children, who also sound as though they are straining at the top of their ranges. However, that is a minor quibble about what is a useful -and fun - CD
