The number of gays and lesbians in live-in relationships has been grossly exaggerated by ministers,offical figures revealed. Fewer than one in 500 adults in England and Wales lives in a same-sex partnership, the 2001 national census figures show.
Ministers who estimate that one in 20 adults is gay, lesbian or bisexual had claimed that as many as 425,000 couples will want to take advantage of new gay marrage laws due before Parliment later this year.
But the census counted fewer than 40,000 homosexual couples sharing a home.This means fewer than 0.2 % of the adult population lives in a stable gay or lesbian relationship.
It is a tiny number of people, but public policy is determined by pressure groups which claim to act for them. They say they are discriminated against and need help, but in fact it is all a cloack for the anti-family agenda.
The moves towards legalising gay marrage and removing recognition of fathers in family life have been criticised for futher undermining the highly vulnerable status of traditional marrage by handing its privileges to those who do not need them.

The average young person keeps over £3,000 worth of possessions in their bedroom, according to a new survey. Insurance company AXA interviewed young people aged 8 to 16, and the parents in Manchester, Glasgow and Swansea, asking them to list their material possessions. The results indicate that young people's bedrooms now house valuables than practically any other room in the home... The survey found that 86% of young people have a TV in their room, with 58% owning a video and a third possessing a DVD player. Eight out of ten have their owm music system, and a quarter own a personal music player such as a CD Walkman. A quater of young people have a PC in their bedroom, and six out of ten own a mobile phone. It also claims that the average young person own £650 of designer clothes, sunglasses, watches and jewellery, and that parents are largely unaware of the value of their children's possessions.

'Young black prisoners are suffering racism in silence, according to a new report from The Children's Society. Flaws in the prisons system, it claims, are preventing victims of racism from making complaints and improving their situation. The report, entitled 'Playing the Game', calls from fundamental changes to be made to the Prison Service's racism complaints and staff recruitment procedures... The majority of black teenagers in custody interviewed for the report said that racist comments and discrimination by prison staff are commonplace in England's Young Offender Institutions (YOIs).

Only four out of ten 16-24 year old men in deprived areas have regular checkups. By comparison, the figure in more affluent areas is six out of ten.

Young women are more likely to have their teeth checked than men, but only five out of ten in deprived areas regularly visit a dentist, compared with seven out of ten in better off areas.

Four out of five children, aged 2-15, attend a dentist for a regular checkups, although the figure drops off sharply at this point.
