Almost three quarters of young fathers in full times jobs would like to give up work to stay at home with their children. A survey of 2,000 adults in the UK reveals that 71 per cent of fathers aged between 18 and 29 would choose to stay at home with their family if they could afford to.
The YouGov survey - conducted on behalf of Mothercare - showed an overall total of 69 per cent of men would give up their full time jobs to stay at home. It also found that one in three fathers felt left out because their partners spent more time with the children. This feeling rose to 59 per cent among fathers aged 18 to 29.
A further one in ten fathers now has more contact with their children than their partner.
