Women are more likely than men to get angry while driving, according to a survey of motorists. Women car insurance specialist Diamond questioned 1,8000 people and found that 21 per cent of women often felt angry with other motorists when behind the wheel compared with just 18 per cent of men. The same percentage of women and men - 51 per cent - admit to shouting at other drivers, although 2 per cent of men admit to having physically attacked another driver, compared with the 1 per cent of women.

Debt is forcing families to miss meals, on to medication and causing marriages to end, a national charity has found. Christins Against Poverty (CAP), the specialist debt counselling charity, said the strain put on families by personal debt is pushing many to crisis point. In research among its client ...CAP found that almost a quarter (23 per cent) said that debt caused their break down. In a worrying development, 67 per cent also confessed that they had missed meals to make debt repayments.

366,000 more people are listening to the radio each week compared with a year ago, total hours for UK listening were down very slightly due to a small slip in the amount of time individuals spent listening. The AM & FM platform saw a share of radio listening rise to nearly 73% while DAB now takes jsut under 11%. With the platform live for much of the last ten years, advocates must feel a little disappointed that despite nearly seven million recievers sold in the UK, not one digital only radio station is even close to reaching one per cent share of listening

More than 1,000 laptops have been lost or stolen from Government departments in recent years, new figures revealed. At least 200, 16 a month, went missing last year alone, including dozens each from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), the Ministry Of Defence and The Department of Work and Pensions.

MP’s have criticised HM Revenue And Customs for giving senior staff big bonuses increases in the last tax year. The bonuses went up by an average of 60% during a year when complaints about tax credits rose, and VAT processing targets were missed. The Treasury Select Committee said the payments were “completely unjustified”.

The British run L’Hotel in Paris has been given a Michelin star for its restaurant, Le’ Restaurant at L’Hotel, making it the only British-run restaurant in Paris to hold the prestigious award.

Pay rises are edging up, with most recent deals worth at least 4%, according to a new report. Settlements in the first 3 months of the year matched the 3.5% average in 2007, but higher awards are being made this month. A study of 30 deals this month shows that two out of three were worth 4% or more.

Hospitals should learn to say sorry more often when things go wrong, the health watchdog said today. The Healthcare Commission report revealed a rise in the number of concerns about complaint handling and communication. It said, ‘We would like to see more organisations and healthcare providers prepared to apologise when errors have been made’.

Sainsbury’s announced plans today to halve the number of disposable plastic bags used by customers over the next year. The supermarket chain said it would reward customers who reused bags with store points. It also pledged that its disposable bags would be made of 50% recycled content by June this year, up from the current 33%.

Doctors voiced their opposition to the ‘headlong rush’ to create super-surgeries today. The British Medical Association (BM A) said the so-called polyclinics would result in the ‘commercialisation of patient care’ as private firms vie for contracts to run the centres. Polyclinics are super-surgeries that house family doctors and other services such as diagnostic testing, minor surgery, physiotherapy, pharmacy or dentistry.
