Incredible transparency! My kids, and nephews, grew up on "Shine". Thank you for that song. Been in the Lord many years and have found the incredible value of Grace.Much love, and understanding to you and your precious family for comin' through the battle. It's a long journey sometimes.

The fans are partly responsible for his fall...why we exhalt mere men to such a pedestal? We need to be there for our brothers all the time, not just when they are up,but when they are down as well.

I think you raised a very valid point, Wayne. We have to be careful to remember that we should be encouraging them in their walk with Christ just as much as they have encouraged us. We should be praying for them and girls shouldn't be falling all over them like "fan girls" Beatles style. That's the world, we should not be of the world, in it, but not of it. These guys are our brothers! Let me ask all you girls out there, would you want some girl flirting with your brother and causing him to sin? I think you would be pretty angry. 1 Tim. 5:1 and 2

I was very moved by John James testimony as have just started to listen Christian music and identify with his battle against alcoholism and am in recovery myself through the 12 steps of AA but know that is the path that God wanted me to go on so I could be a testimony as there is not enough christian AAs(not including Roman Catholics) so God is using me to testify that he can use anyone to glorify his name and takes pleasure in using the weaker people like me and John for his glory and as long as we never forget that we will be alright.Hallelujah!

Well it is sad that john james had this kind of lifestyle. But i'm so glad that Peter furler became lead singer! I love Peter Furler. You know what? Unfortunately he LEFT THE BAND! I know like can you believe it? after so long on the group. it is so sad. and then this is bad. They get like this michael tait guy to lead the group. sooooooooooo sad

I think Michael hit this one right on the mark. You should re-read what he just said.

I think you missed the point of the entire message. Maybe you should look deeper into the situation and not focus so much on the music. God is working wonders in this man's life and you are worried about the lead singer of a band. Soooooo sad! And Michael Tait is a great singer and was once the member of another great band DC talk not just some guy.

The Lord is working with John to make the Devil stay out of his life after loosing to him years ago...I pray he will always stay Strong in his faith, his family and his church...It takes a Awesome man of God to talk about his life with addictions, and he has achieved the true way to live--in the life for the Lord...God Bless you John and I wish some day to hear you in person.

This article is a ray of hope for all of us who despair in fallen heroes. I confess I was really sad when I first read this but at the end of the article, I felt such hope and peace that I know that God turned what the devil planned to good. Whatever lies were told etc. forgiveness must be given when all things come to light. I hope the Newsboys live up to the legacy of this man that has chosen to follow God still. John it is not over for you...the path of the righteous shines brighter and brighter...old things have passed away...love and peace and grace to you.

Read this while listening to 'Take Me To Your Leader'. It's amazing reading this how well the music from that album fits this story. Lost the Plot then running away (from Reality) and finally Miracle Child. Praise God that he reached out to John and took him out of the situation that was causing him and his wife so much pain and misery. It's amazing the grace God has and the way he just pulls you back to him. This testimony was hard reading and really did move me to tears several times but it's so good that God has put John back on track.

In the reality that comes from above, God really IS calling and there really is no bigger love. He does constantly welcome us back no matter what we do.

Mike...
Thank you for your good journalism.

John...
Your wife is amazing. God is with you both.
Thank you for your honesty. Thank you for your perseverence. You are strong now and you have given us so much with your life. I hope God wants you to sing with the newsboys again.

Hypocrisy is a lie. Using someone for your own gain/pleasure who is already emotionally vulnerable is a lie. Covering yourself when it gets out of control is a lie. Pretending you were a good boy all along is a lie. Pretending you're a good boy NOW, after you're found out, is a lie. Religion is a lie.

Fan since 1989 of this wonderful band with a great message to get out, hurt by John James leaving. This is an extraordinary article and sheds light to the many questions I have had. WOW, glad James is walking in the ways of the Lord and using the band as a platform to present the glory of the Lord again. Lord works in mysterious ways bringing James full circle even though he isn't singing with the band. Thank you! Nice to know that Tait is doing adding to the Newboys sound instead of being a detraction due to the changeup in lead singers again.
