Last issue in Three Dots And A Flash we read that there were two bands called Third Day, now here is the debut album from the American band of that name. Third Day play fairly typical radio-friendly American CCM rock with a strong tinge of blues. Their music goes from bluesy rock to acoustic ballads and back again, with overtly Christian lyrics. The band are a tight unit and all appear to be competent musicians but it is the production which lets this album down, perhaps because it was originally a private recording, it is fairly typical of its genre and needs something new to make it stick out from the crowd. The standout track for me is "Thief, a beautiful track exploring the feelings of the thief crucified beside Jesus and the album could do with more like it. this band have some good songs but need to put more work into the production.
