Smokie Norful first became very popular musically in the US in 2002. Touring with this latest album, he is including more preaching in his performance. This is perhaps no great surprise as, being the son of a minister, Smokie developed his musical and vocal ability in church from a very early age. After school teaching and becoming an ordained minister, events led him back in the musical direction in a big way. His songs are a powerful expression of thanks and praise to God and he collaborates in writing with Jason Tyson, Percy Bady, Myron Butler, Josiah Bell, Donald 'Buster' Woods, Priscilla White, Jud J Friedman and Allan Rich. Smokie's voice smoothly exudes confidence in the subject matter of the songs, effortlessly hiding the fact that such recordings require great artistry and teamwork. An artful blend of old school gospel and modern R&B, this album maintains the high standard expected from Smokie.
