19 year old Seifa is a relatively new artist on the Wigan gospel scene. (Yer what? Editor) Originally from Nigeria, Seifa has been writing since she was 13. 'My Time' is Seifa's second independent release following on from a four-song EP 'Over'. The songs on this album could use a bit of production. The overall feel is that funds might have been tight for studio time, but as general ideas go, a couple of the tracks work really quite well. "Leaving" and "My Time" I could definitely hear on the latest polished Nashville gospel offering. Seifa for the most part seems to have a good way with a chorus melody, sometimes to the extent that it could save the song, "Mother" being a prime example and that is definitely a skill to hone. Unfortunately as far as trying to bring a contemporary sound to gospel music, this album falls wide of the mark, but with the talents that Seifa seems to have in her melodies, it shouldn't be anything a good producer can't fix.
