Jonathan Bellamy is not alone in believing Ray's "The Anchor Holds" to be one of the most spine-tingling ballads to come out of America's 'inspirational radio' subsection of Christian music. There are several other ballads here almost equalling its class. Ray Boltz's husky emoting is tailor made for the big orchestral build up and the band here don't hold back with the dramatic crescendos. Though some more laid back Brits might find it all a tad OTT, the general effect, with such quality songs and effecting voice, is of a man passionately wanting to communicate faith.
