Does anyone have the guitar chords for Why did He allow it?

Posted by Daniel Morriss in Northamptonshire @ 10:43 on Feb 21 2018

I have this album on cassette. The words to the Name above all names song are:

You're my captain and my fortress
A prophet and a priest
Immanuel, Messiah, Prince of Peace.
You're the everlasting Father
The Saviour, and a friend
You're the sacrifice, beginning and the end

You're the Lily of the Valley
And you're the Morning Star
The beginning of creation from afar
You're the Lord of Life
The Dayspring from on high
You're the Living Bread
You're the reason why

Take away the world
I know you'll never change
Jesus, you're the name above all names

You're my foundation
A precious cornerstone
You're the rock on which I love to build my home
You're the light and you're the door
A refuge from the storm
You're the shepherd
And you're the Holy One

Take away the world
I know you'll never change
Jesus, you're the name above all names

Desire of all the nations
You are the Great I AM
You're the Lamb of God
And you're the Son of Man
You're the faithful and true witness
The Teacher and the Vine
You're the Bridegroom
And least of all - you're mine.

Take away the world
I know you'll never change
Jesus, you're the name above all names
Jesus, you're the name above all names

I have also been looking for this album for a long time. the Phil potter song that has the chorus line 'Why did He allow it? I hope one day I'll know, why the king in all his glory never let his glory show.'

would the name of the song be The King In All His Glory?

Me too, I lost a song I love. I think it´s the last one (Jesus, you´re the Name above all Names) I remember a few lines, out of order. It´d be great if someone could make these lyrics accessible on-line or help me here!

You´re my captain and my fortress
You are the Moring Star
The beginning of Creation from afar

You´re the Son of God, you are the great I AM
…and you´re the reason WHY
You´re the everlasting father, a Savior and a friend
You´re the sacrifice, beginning and the end

You´re the Light and you´re the door
The priester and the vine
You´re the living word
..and least of all, you´re mine
Jesus, you´re the Name above all Names

Hi Cornelia,
I've just emailed Phil Potter in ministry in England, who I hope is the same as the musician. I'm hoping he can direct me to a source of his music on CDs.
You're my captain and my fortress,
the prophet and the priest
Emmanuel Messiah Prince of Peace
You're the everlasting Father
A Saviour and a Friend
the Sacrifice, the Beginning and the End.
Take away the world
I know you'll never change
Jesus you're the Name above all Names

Thank you so much, Mike!!!! This was excactly what I needed! I hadn’t seen your answer in two whole years - until this week….only because I happened to start another web search for this text I still just can’t forget. This is really intruigiung. So you, who were involved with the production of this album – I wonder if it touched you as producers or other people as much as it did me; in fact, it made me cry buckets…. I really immensely appreciate many other praise and worship songs, but this simple assembly of the Names of God is incredibly strong. I used to spin the tape back and listen to this one song over and over again, in very dark times of my life. Jesus, You’re the NAME ABOVE ALL NAMES…and least of all, you’re mine… Thank you so much for this production!!! I hop you are still working on music projects….one day you will see, what became of these seeds.

Hi Cornelia
Came across your mention of 'Jesus, you´re the Name above all Names' by Phil Potter. I worked on this album with Phil (I'm the 'Dunn' credited on the first two tracks, and played/sang throughout with Phil). I've done a quick scan on the front and back of the cover - the back includes all the lyrics - and have uploaded them to a web page:

God Bless You!

Looking for Phil Potter lead me on album

Reply by Andrew Green in Birmingham - UK @ 09:49 on Jun 23 2013

I don't have the album with me either but, I love playing and singing this song and have memorized the verses.

So here goes.

Last night I must admit I thought, I'd cry forevermore.
I saw the one I loved so much, standing before the high court.
They whipped him and they beat him, till his blood was running free,
Then they gave him a crown of thorns to add to their mockery.

Why did he allow it.......etc.

His body was growing weaker, so they beat him yet again.
Then they gave him a mighty cross, to carry in his pain.
And as we were all mourning, my tears made it hard to see,
The direction in which he was heading, to a hill called Calvary.

Why did he allow it....etc

When they reached the summit, they nailed him to a tree,
Along with a couple of murderers, there for all to see.
A murderer turned to him and said, if you're Christ then set us free!
The other said to Jesus, please Lord remember me.

The sky was growing blacker, his life was nearly through.
He shouted "Father forgive them." "They know not what they do"
A short time after we all could see that he was now dead,
The only thing left to show he was king was the crown of thorns on his head.

A short time after he was buried, on the saddest day that's been.
A great big stone covered the tomb, so his body could not be seen.
but as we were all mourning and God only knows how,
His only son had conquered death and is here with us now.

final chorus =
now I know why he allowed it,
praise the Lord I know for sure.
2000 years ago Jesus blood opened heavens door.
2000 years ago Jesus blood gave me life for evermore.

this helps
