Now here's a name to bring back a few memories - American-born Steve Givens was based in the UK for four years in the mid-'90s, and I remember him being involved with a rather good acoustic/roots band called Ephthatha. This is a good few steps away from the things he's done in the past, because Nathanael's Creed are on the pop/rock side of roots, but the standard of songwriting is still just as good. This checks in at over 46 minutes for 12 tracks and there are echoes of all sorts of people in the mix, sometimes Rich Mullins and Steven Curtis Chapman, other times John Michael Talbot and Michael Card. Fave on first hearing is "Step Out Of The Boat", but I don't doubt that a few more songs will worm their way into my subconscious as time goes by. Worth considering.
