The pokinatcha punks are back, well not really this came out in 1995 Stateside but Alliance have released it over here. This is an EP with eight three-minute adrenalin bullets on it but they are not MxPx tracks, they are as the title suggests - covers. Bryan Adams, Buddy Holly, Keith Green and more get the punk treatment. "Summer Of 69" drums straight in and then follows the ranting - this puts you in the picture for the next 20 minutes. I personally think some of their covers are better than the originals. The cover of Buddy Holly's "Oh Boy" even includes a sax but I think this song is too cheesy! I love the covers of Joy Electric "Drum Machine Joy" and "Take On Me" by A-HA. Another good track is Keith Green's "You Put This Love In My Heart" summing up the band's love for God. Lead singer Mike Herreas' old band the Cootees play you out with "No Brain". This is more about fun than anything so don't buy if you want deep, meaningful lyrics. To give you an idea how good this band are they played the Reading festival and sometimes even attract attention from mainstream magazines. Check 'em out!
