Heather has moved from the girl-next-door pop rock of her debut to something a little more substantial with this second release. Visually, she's also become a blonde rock chick in the process! Musically though, 'Send Me An Angel' is decidedly poppy with only "Angel" and "On His Way Home" venturing into heavier territory. Produced by dc Talk's Michael Tait and former Grammatrain frontman Pete Stewart, it is the perfect vehicle to highlight Heather's excellent vocal talents. Mostly it's effective and slickly produced pop like the jangiy loop and acoustic guitar of the tame "We Will See Him" and "Thinking Of You". There's a cover of the old Russ Taff classic "Winds Of Change" where she forms an effective vocal trio with her producers. "All My Needs" is acoustic driven pop and "In Your Arms" is an evocative little ballad. But overall, despite the fine work of Messrs Tait and Stewart, and Heather's excellent singing, aside from the occasional musical flash, this album is simply a step in the right direction without managing to be a classic. To these ears she still sounds like a singer yet to find her real voice.
