Heather Miller's debut disc sees her teaming up with producer Billy Smiley who has penned the lion's share of the songs on this album. So while Heather may not yet have found her own voice when it comes to the song writing, there's one thing that's beyond doubt...this girl can sing!!! Steeped in vocal intensity, Heather passionately communicates with her edgy pop sound - there's plenty of rock thrown into the formula but then with Smiley at the helm, what would you expect? Standouts are the attack of "Forgive Forget" with its grungy guitar intro; the frantic opener "Do You Know Now" with its immediate catchiness. At the other extreme, the Phil Keaggy tune "Lovely Jesus" with its pop groove and understated guitar fills and the title tune "Prince Of Light (Once Upon A Time)" with its atmospheric arrangement and Heather's brilliant vocal performance highlight her versatility. Her confidence throughout this debut is never in question; even down to her decision to cover Amy Grant's "Thy Word" which is always going to provoke what could be embarrassing comparisons but which she pulls off with great aplomb. We'll be hearing much more from Miller.

I purchased Heather Miller's first album back in the 1990's, when I was at college (Uni). I was impressed with her singing talents and appreciated the message in her songs. It would be good to meet her in person too. ;)
