Grapevine is, of course, one of the UK's best and longest running Bible weeks and, as usual, veteran worship leader Chris Bowater is among the worship team offering the event's annual live album. 'Devoted' kicks off with a progressive "Overture" really grabbing your attention, bringing you into the mood of the album led by power drumming and anthemic guitar riffs. It flows smoothly into Delirious?' popular "Rain Down", expertly delivered with a vocal from (I think) Howard Williams every bit as good as the Martin Smith original and gives a real vibe of impassioned worship. I say "I think" as strangely the sleeve only gives a collective listing of the singers/worship leaders. The title track has a very mellow feel, allowing you to relax and take it in, the lyrics of the chorus seem really truthful from the heart of the worship leader - "I am devoted, I offer all I have." The final track is an effective version of "Amazing Grace" with the first two verses of the song, but adding their own chorus and new verse which neatly updates John Newton's classic for the 21st century. Overall the album has a range of upbeat modern worship songs interspersed with a few heartfelt melodic tracks. This is a great buy for anyone who went to Grapevine though it suffers from having few outstanding new-to-CD songs.

A very good album with songs that you will only find on this
album as they were written by worship leaders. Devoted must
be the track which stands out by far, Howard Williams has
done himself proud with that track. The overture is a very
pleasent addition to the Grapevine CD. The only downside is
with the two copies I have had, is that they have not ripped
very well so adding to my mp3 player is not very succesful.
But great cd.
