To record Americana-flavoured songs able to hold the listener through an album's length requires a deft musical touch and the ability to come up with simple, rocky songs. Both the jaunty opener "Rise Up" and the ballad "Seize The Moment" are just that, having strong melodies on which Eddy's rich voice, helped by some self-sung harmonies, are excellent. Best of all is the choppy-rhythmed "I'm Setting My Mind On You" which has some skillfully fluid electric guitar interjections. Lyrically, Eddy addresses most of his songs to God, though preferring to call him "you" to Jesus or Lord and whether he's writing about the Lord's ability to bring emotion and meaning to life ("You, You Make Me Feel") or simply telling God how wonderful he is, this is a Christocentric album without being a congregational worship one. Eddy has the ability to spell out his thoughts and feelings clearly and unequivocally and the songsmith, based at a church in Philadelphia, has come up with possibly his best album.
