Singer/songwriter Danny Cope presents us with his second independently recorded CD and it's fab. Actually, I'd go so far as to suggest that this is an excellent model of how it's possible to record an album in a bedroom (or in this case a series of bedrooms) and using real instruments get a strong sound and plenty of vibe. Obviously when he's not playing bass with Dave Bilbrough, Danny has plenty of creative ideas that have found their way onto this recording. He has a soulful voice and an ability to combine a number of genres like Britpop, jazz, '60s pop and acoustic rootsy stuff into something original. Danny Cope writes songs that are achingly beautiful ("Still", "The Bigger Picture"), catchy and compelling ("Undone", "Slowing Down") or just straight forward vibey ("Fantasy Island", "When My Way Gets In Yours"). He writes with an ability to address spiritual and life issues in an engaging manner without resorting to clichés and throughout he doesn't miss a nuance vocally with a blue-eyed soul delivery that is effective and memorable.
