DLDown is a newish band hailing from Scotland consisting of Jo Wilson (vocals, guitar, keyboards) and Tim Buick (alto sax). The CD starts off with a phoney scratchy vinyl sound but you soon realise that it's one of the many random effects that this duo uses to make a truly unique new style. The instrumentals are captivating and the songs touch on various subjects. "Lazarus" is about being Lazarus, dying and coming back to life when Jesus speaks, "Frustration" covers being ashamed at constantly doing wrong, whilst "Farther Up And Farther In" is about following God's voice in this life and into the next life. Both artists bring with them a mastery of their instruments that makes this a fantastic listen - keyboards are used to great effect, Jo's guitar work is deft and Tim's saxophone gives a refreshingly jazzy feel to some of the songs. A fresh breath of life to the indie music scene.
