Having enjoyed the recordings of the Texan hard rockers, particularly their self-titled million seller from 2005, I was looking forward to this ebook written by Carl Phelan, the grandfather of band member Jared Hartmann. However, I struggled with this massive volume and can only recommend it to the staunchest of Flyleaf enthusiasts. Although the band's history is interesting enough, My Phelan's writing style is distinctly limited. Also, much of the book consists of a listing of every single concert the band (including Flyleaf's early manifestation under the name Passerby) have ever played! As a piece of fastidious record keeping this Herculean effort has to be commended but as a biography, Flyleaf Spreads Their Wings makes for a very dull read.
