The alternative worship team from the Brown Bear event run by the lchthus church. When CR reviewed their first tape 'My Soul Thirsts For You' we gave it seven squares. This is a better album but we can't really crank up the rating due to the fact now that a band of pioneers have established a dance orientated groove as a vehicle for praise and worship and we've had approaches as diverse as the Late Late Service and Nitro Praise to lay down the creative mark against which new releases must be measured. So what of Brown Bear? There is some fine, imaginative funky programming, the guitar riffs work well (particularly the rock riff on "Breathe" and Kev Adrian's rhythmic wah wah on the opener "Holy Jesus") while the lyrics are prayerful and sensitive. But the vocals are weak. Better vocalists would have made a much better album. Until the Lord provides them to the Brown Bear team, let's be grateful for their crusade in bringing 90s style musical relevancy to the pivotal worship ministry.
