These pioneers of alternative worship took a little time in locating a coherent style but their move from dance to a groove-orientated rock sound is completed here with flare and ingenuity. Production from Kevan Frost (Des'ree. Mica Paris. Boy George) is first rate with the simple worship anthems like "Heavenly Father" driven by pulsating bass grooves and with meaty wedges of grunge guitars interplaying with wistful synth washes. For me the most intriguing track is the haunting title track with phased drums and sorties into surreal poetry with all manner of studio effects. The fact that this very fine album is only available through mail order speaks a lot about the deficiencies of today's Christian bookshop distribution system. But don't be put off. search out this truly innovative worship project.
