Although this isn't, as advertised, Brenda's first ever gospel project, it is a fascinating return for the '50s and '60s hitmaker. On this set the veteran sings duets with a veritable who's who of mainstream country (Dolly Parton, George Jones, Alison Krauss, Vince Gill, Emmylou Harris, Martina McBride and. . . rather oddly. . . the rocker Huey Lewis). All the songs are well known gospel classics and the album kicks off with a great duet with Dolly Parton, "This Old House". Sadly the next track "Have A Little Talk With Jesus" with George Jones proves that this once great country singer's voice has really gone though Brenda's pipes are still in good working order. "In The Garden" with Alison Krauss is a particular favourite of mine and although all the rest of the tracks are very easy on the ear, ie, "Jesus Loves Me" with Emmylou Harris, the album does have a certain sameness about the way the songs are arranged. At £14.99 it does not represent great value for money with its relatively short playing time.

Product Description
Brenda Lee’s story is the remarkable tale of a girl with God-given talent that took her first from poverty to international superstardom and then onwards to the rarified ranks of living music industry legends.
Brenda’s tremendous impact on the history of recorded music is significant. She signed to a major label recording contract at age 11, she was a million-selling teenage rock ‘n roll icon by age 15 and was the best selling female recording artist in the world by age 21. She has been inducted into both the Country Music Hall Of Fame and the Rock And Roll Music Hall Of Fame.
For Brenda Lee’s next album she turned her attention back to the music that helped build the foundation of her life – to music that glorifies the God of her childhood and brings memories long before stardom when she, as a child of 8 or 9, sang regularly with the Masterworkers Quartet in churches and spirited all-night sings throughout the South of the USA.
Joining her on this lively inspirational album are just a few of her many faithful friends who also just happen to be some of the biggest names in mainstream music today – Dolly Parton, Alison Krauss, Vince Gill, Huel Lewis, Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris and more.
