Claude Lamont is a songwriter and trumpeter who once worked with Exeter-based folk team The Grenaways. This project is a family fronted band based surprisingly around Claude's trumpet playing! The opening title track, written by Josephine Lamont, explores following your dreams, here the mixture of piano/keyboard/vocals provides a distinct old school jazz feel, mixed with folk influenced vocals. "Struggling" is more up tempo and more piano driven. After listening several times, the collection grows on you, although it needed the several plays to appreciate it! Claude's trumpet is the star of the collection, providing the foundation of every track, but sometimes, the mix between the vocals and the trumpet becomes blurred, providing a distraction to the listener. The five track EP has, in truth, little more than demo quality production, but it's still an engaging release from a group I hope get to play at Creation Fest or KingsStock.
