Billboard acknowledge rise of Switchfoot

WITH SALES of Switchfoot's 2003 album The Beautiful Letdown' approaching platinum status, the band's new single on the project "Dare You To Move" is set to climb the American charts. San Diego-based Switchfoot were featured in an article in Billboard recently headed New Bands Storm Modern Rock Radio. The article suggested that "modern rock is searching for the next fashion so we can have a renaissance of the format. . . We're searching for the band that's raising its hand." The other groups spotlighted in the article included The Darkness, Jet and Lostprophets but it was Jon Foreman, lead singer of Switchfoot, who spoke about his band's Christian message. Said Foreman, "The whole record is about yearning for something more than cell phones and modern conveniences. Making music that hits on a spiritual and emotional level was our goal, rather than just (music) to tap your foot to." CR
