Thank you for sharing writing this article. Michael has, and continues to be, an inspiration to those of us who have felt the fall and felt God's redemptive hand. We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God; Micheal's sin just happen to be in the lime light. He has shown though that God is good all the time we just have to be willing to stop running so He can show us all the goodness and love He has for us. Thank you, Michael, for sharing your story!

"It feels like redemption". I am so thrilled Michael English is back and that he is walking in the Light. Why do we always kick our wounded instead of pray and love on them?

We serve a God of purpose, love, commitment, grace and mercy. Michael, God has a purpose for your life. Always remember that!

Apesar de não compreender tudo que li, pude entender que Deus restaurou Michael English livrando-o das drogas.Fiquei feliz por saber que ele esta cantando novamente no GVB. Deus os abençoe.

How much i want to believe him - but it seems that returns to faith alternate with slides to the dark side - so it will still be a battle the whole way (ditto the guy from Creed - who this story reminds me of) .
Hang in there Michael - He that is in use is greater........

Pray for this guy - and pray for a CCM system that allows someone with such shallow roots to become a role model. How many similar performers are content to make their records and collect Dove awards with out repentance - and just havent been rumbled.

Where is the Pastoral care of our artists - or is it just the nature of the business these days?

This is why so many in CCM have fallen and yet the [vain] show must go on:
"For me, my deal is that I grew up singing Christian music. My dad taught me to be the best at it as I could but I didn't necessarily know much about Christianity, it was more about being a Christian 'star'. And then having attention deficit disorder, trying to read [the Bible] and not being able to read because I'm trying to get this stuff in my mind and I'm thinking of other things - of baseball or what I'm gonna do tomorrow. My remedy to that was just not to do it. Praying; same thing. So I came up with this way of thinking that was so wrong, of going, 'Hey, I'm singing every night just about. I'm singing in churches, I'm doing all this stuff, so that should be plenty for God.' You know what I'm saying? And there's no such thing as a 'plenty for God'. So not being in the Word and not praying - two very important pieces of the puzzle of Christianity and your walk with God, and if that's not happening then you are, I believe, a very weak, weak Christian."

I suspect that fans of these "stars" also substitute CCM for Bible study and prayer, which explains why they have no spiritual discernment.

Michael,
The best artist I have had the privilege of knowing. The article above tells about the struggles Michael has had all his life....that is what makes him the humble, caring and loving person he is today. Those who have gone through much also have much to give. When Michael sings he gives everything he has. I believe God made him so tall so that those big notes that come out of his mouth have to travel from the tips of his toes to the top of his head. Those notes are fantastic. He is a blessing to all of us because he has been blessed by God and it shows. Everyone needs to hear Michael in concert. He is back with the Gaither Vocal Band and he is happier than he has ever been. When he was with them before, he was very young and had not gone through all the tribulations he since has had. Those trials have made him the best there is. I have followed Michael through those tough years and he was great then...however, now with God beside him, he is the greatest. What a winning team...God and Michael English. Well, maybe I should include Bill in there also. LOL

A very encouraging biography. I renember listening to one of his songs "Solid as a rock" just after I returned to God in the year 2002, not knowing who this artist was and what happened to him. This reminds us that God really cares about people even when some christians don't, God is good!

I have been a fan of Michael's since hearing him sing with the Vocal Band in 1986. Throughout Michael's years of highs and lows, God has still used his music to minister to me over and over again. I am crying with joy to hear he is again doing what God created him to do!

Michael has been such a blessing in my life and after a LONG time away, brought me back to Christ. His music & testimony has been such a blessing to me thru thick & thin over more than 10 yrs. I started out as just a fan of his music, but now count him as a precious, precious friend ! I'm SOOOOO glad he's back where he needs to be...as the lead singer of the GVB !!
Blessings to all who read & post here,
Nelda
