I have such vivid and poignant memories of touring with the British group of Continental Singers as a pianist and Assistant Director, mainly with Colin Hearn, Geoffrey Smith and others from 1988-1995.
The quality of songs-words and music was back then (and am sure is still of the same calibre!) the BEST in Christian music and is probably unrivalled today.
It saddens me that media coverage has been so sparce as regards to the Continental Singers but that has nor dettered this organization from spreading the gospel and God sees this at the end of the day!
I still think of such songs like "I've Just seen Jesus", "Light Your World" and many others that are still no less than spine-tingling and far superior to the rather tacky choruses and songs that many exploit in the church today!
I was and still am proud to have my name associated with the Continental Singers.

Hi David,
We've met ages ago ... in the nineties to be honest. I was in the circle of friends of Hetty. I remember that awesome weekend we had with her family during the Flower Festifal. Hope you're doing fine. Is there still something going on in the UK CS wise?
Love in Christ,
Caroline

I am so fond of the memories that I have of the Continental Singers that there is not a day that goes by that I don't think of them. Their music & their love for the Master touches me with God's all encompassing love! I first heard them when they performed "Come Bless the Lord" back in 1978 when they toured some of the Pacific islands including my home in American Samoa. Those memories will not ever be forgotten. Thank you for this enlightening article. While the media coverage for the Continental Singers may be unjust, God will continue to use them for His glory! Thank you Cam Floria & Ralph Carmichael!! GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

In responce to the letter written by "Lakena Alesana". I was on the south Pacific tour in 1978 which visited American Samoa. It warms my heart to here about the impact God had on people on that tour. Ive lost touch with my fellow tour mates but I still have wonderful memories of many blessed moments and the wonderful people of Samoa.

What a wonderful article. Dispite lack of internet media coverage...they are well known around the world in Christian circles. I had the privilege of touring several times with them, and have the honor to be friends with so many former tour members and present day office staff. Continentals really helped define who I am as an adult and definitely have been a major part of my life. Thank you for taking time to write this wonderful article...and I will make it my mission to get the word to Wiklipidia about this amazing ministry!

I'm glad I found this article on the CONTINENTALS. As you mention, there is not much said about them anywhere, however their music is of the finest quality I've ever heard. I own many of their album and love each and every song, the harmonies, the arrangements they make. Thanks for sharing an insight of them.

I met the Lord in '79 and the continental albums have helped me a lot in my life. I would like very much to know where I can get a copy of your albums from the 60's.

Thank you for your excellent article on Continental Singers. Looking back over my 40 years of personal experience I can say that it is one of the most effective, yet under-publicized, youth ministry organizations worldwide. Continentals continues to influence young people worldwide, impacting both the members of the traveling groups and those in the audiences.
I first traveled with Continental Singers in 1967 and it changed my life. Since then I have been a member of additional tours, worked in the office for several years, and continue as a Board member. Continentals has remained an integral part of my Christian growth and ministry. I am grateful to the Lord for the opportunity to be one of the 65,000 alumni Continentals.

Whilst I was never a member of the Continental Singers, I knew a few of the British group.Overall, the quality of songs were strong, well written, musical and inspiring. Its a great pity that media coverage has never been favourable in the UK.Keep going for another decade and all the best!Nigel Martin GBSM FTCL FLCM FVCM(hons)LGSM LTCL LLCM(TD) LLCM ABSM ARCM ALCM
