Ngraydid is Wiltshire-based rootsy folk protest singer/songwriter John Wright accompanied by his friends, one of whom has a music workshop where the album was recorded. John does have a serious message to communicate: that of living a simple life in worship of God. This is most clearly heard in one of the better songs on the album "Keep It Simple". The title track - a rousing call to repentance - isn't too bad either. But "Communication" - about rejecting satellite dishes and widescreen TVs, though a laudable effort in original songwriting - in the end just appears rather silly. Yes, I'm sure that this album comes out of a heart to sincerely worship God - as can be heard in such songs as "Amazing Grace (I'm Not Worthy)" - but I'm not sure that John's voice rises to the challenge. His lyrics don't always scan and his rhymes may work well in poetry but in these songs they are sometimes cringeworthy. Maybe readers would be better advised buying John's poetry book from his website rather than listen to the album.
