In being both church culture-shaping pioneers and shape-shifting genre-hoppers, dc Talk have taken CCM to new heights but largely failed to impact the mainstream. The trio's journey from hip hop to grunge to Europop has sprouted sparkling standards like "Luv Is A Verb'" and "Jesus Freak" (a fierce Generation X alternative to "Smells Like Teen Spirit"), but they have still to really snap the shackles musically and wow a cynical world. Yep, it's brilliantly produced, hooky and memorable, but if the radicalism of their lyrics was matched by a dangerous artistic leap they'd be awesome. Buy this worthy introduction and judge for yourself.

This first of many "Greatest Hits" to be released is on the market in November of 2000. A nice and lengthy collection of songs, more than the usual for any single cd collection of works. "In The Light" will always be a top fave as well as "Between You & Me", & "What If I Stumble. Great cover of the late Larry Norman's
"I Wish We'd All Been Ready"; great video also.
This collection of songs would not be complete without another great cover song "Jesus Is Just Alright"; a super old 70's Doobie Bros. tune.
God Bless, Don
