This CD has a very modern pop rock feel (with some '80s and '90s throwbacks - but they're currently fashionable), having a One Direction/Wanted/Taylor Swift feel to the vocals and melodies (think teen angst with occasional rapped sequences). The guitar and keyboard work is a bit more '80s/'90s rock and is higher in the mix than is normal for pop, but it does work and makes the CD more interesting than my initial comments may make it sound. The stuttered keyboard intro to "Fightback Soundtrack" had me reaching for my best of the '80s dance compilations and filled my head with images of Thompson Twins and Duran Duran, whereas "Epic" was very Culture Beat and the keyboards on "You're The Best Thing" totally Bananarama. It's very much a mix of influences (I decided not to list them all) - all of which are a bit too close to the surface for my liking. I'd like to hear them after they've assimilated these styles a bit more and produced one of their own. They'll be a huge hit at a teenage festival, though (which is more likely their target audience).
