Vashawn's songwriting has had a substantial impact on the contemporary gospel music world, with his songs being covered by Vanessa Bell Armstrong ("Help") and Smokie Norful ("Just Can't Stop"). In addition, his past album 'Triumphant' was Grammy nominated and "Nobody Greater" became the most played gospel track of 2011 in the US. This is his first album in three years, but the uplifting, faith building messages that have brought inspiration to many continue. Two of the songs here have already proved popular, the beautiful "God Can Do Anything" with its prayer to 'blow my mind' and "Wind Of God" which features a soulful diva called Taelia Robinson. The simple, stripped back "In Control" affirms a trust and faith which infuses the whole collection. The album does not present any musical surprises for Vashawn's regular listeners (except maybe the Middle East feel of "Till You Bless Me"!), but the funky "Stood For Me" may point to a future musical direction for this award-winning songsmith.
