The greatest ability of this promising Australian trio is to assault you with their grunge laden wall of sound commanding you to listen. An overpowering, pumping wash of dirty sounding guitars drive this six-track EP that captures 25 minutes of raw energy. However, although immersed by this thunderous cacophony (sometimes it is difficult to decipher every lyric clearly), it is Jason McPhail's gravelly vocals that really give this band a unique, distinct edge. As suggested by two songs that he pens himself ("There's No Fear" and "Down") he possesses a pain filled voice that defiantly tries to attain Christ's perfection in an imperfect world. This is where the vocals and music complement one another most successfully, creating a slightly downbeat, but true, catharsis. Undeniably indie, there is always the sense that these men are not afraid to sing their songs in their own inimitable way. That does not prove to be a bad way at all, thus heralding an interesting new voice in the form of Mr McPhail.
