Hailing from the Harvest Temple branch of the New Testament Church of God in Wolverhampton, TempleSound's debut EP is essentially a sampler which showcases the group's abilities and relative musical diversity. Proceedings kick off with the sturdy song of praise "Higher" which, with a no frills musical backing and a Lighthouse Family-type vocal from Adrian Gray, praises God in uplifting fashion despite its tendency to rely on those well-worn "higher, greater, worthy" phrases. Philip Gray puts in a fine vocal performance on the God-seeking "It's You I'm Chasing" which, whilst being a polished piece of gentle gospel soul, suffers from being far too long with the song needlessly meandering near the end. Arguably this EP's highlight, the funk-tinged "Gifted To Me", sees the collective's female vocalists (including Sonia King) deservedly take the spotlight to encourage the believer to persevere through trials and tribulations before the slow ballad "In You God Will I Trust" and the stripped-back "Every Good Gift" add further variety on this tentative but effective maiden voyage by the Harvest Temple folks.
