Regular releases since 1993 make Starflyer 59 one of Tooth and Nail's most prolific acts. In the past they have been likened to Black Sabbath and Led Zepellin. NOT THIS TIME. You could say that this is accomplished atmospheric pop rock with dreamy hushed vocals and twangy guitar. You could also say that this is a bit boring. There are some good two and a half minute songs here but they go on for four minutes. The lyrics, apart from "Give Up The War," are about nothing much. The tedious late-Beatlesque strings featured on most tracks achieve even less for this fab four. However, Terry Taylor's production is predictably superb and this recording does have a DA/Choir feel to it that will appeal to some. The packaging also includes some cool photos. Mrs B says it's nice background music. She's so polite.
