If ever there was a case of schizophrenia in Christian music, here it is! Sibling debut with eight songs and from the guitar based jangly rock of side one through to the more vibey synth based stuff on side two, you could be mistaken for thinking you were listening to two bands. I have suspicions that Phillip Edmunds on and Paul Hammerton, who make up the band, took one side each to indulge their own musical tastes, or maybe these eight songs were recorded over a long time gap and the band developed musically along the way. Whatever, the straightforward funky rock of "Stand Up" and the little song on side one are both effective rock tracks, but somehow things don't really hot up until we get to the second half of the album. Although the sound is a little more muggy, the music is more interesting! There's the humorous "Living Ledgend" (sic) and the anthemic U2esque "Slide Sack" as well as the moody synths of "Going" that make things happen here. "God Part 3" is not a cover of the Larry Norman tune of the same name but rather a similar concept - the desire to respond to Lennon and U2's previous songs that cover this area. This time Sibling really go for an epic! Over seven minutes of driving synth rock which brings As If... to mind. I like this!
