Reviewed by Jonathan Evans Worship for children has come a long way from the early days of Integrity’s LPs that I used to put on for my kids! Back then it was vinyl and the songs were in the style of “The Wise Man Built His House Upon The Rock”. In the 15 or so years since then, the boundary between kid’s worship and adult worship seems to have blurred somewhat. So we find on this CD such songs as “Hallelujah (Your Love Is Amazing)” and “Here I Am To Worship”, both of which are sung by all ages. As a worship leader I’m finding the same - although there is a place for songs that are intended specifically for children, there are far more songs around now that are appropriate for everyone. This CD is a good example - it is well produced, with children’s voices used well, and a good range of songs. My favourite track is “God Is Great”, which really rocks. Just one concern - and it’s a general one, but applies here - worship is about praising God, it’s about intimacy, but it’s also about life and real issues of poverty, justice, renewal of the world, etc. There’s a lot of praise and intimacy here, and that’s great, but there ain’t much that relates to how faith works out in today’s world. Don’t our kids need to know that too, or would we rather cocoon them from the real world?
