Down the years Scott has written songs for Point Of Grace, Avalon and Jaci Velasquez, amongst others and has also enjoyed the occasional Christian radio hit himself. Back with his first album for three years, Scott here offers heartfelt songs around the subject of love. The opener for example, "Heartbeat Drop" with its very infectious chorus "I won't stop, I won't stop/Never gonna let the heartbeat drop" is a hook that sticks with you well after the song is over. "We Are Broken" features a jaw-dropping lyric about our human failings while "When You Cry" has so much emotion packed into it, it truly touches the listener. There are some less reflective songs too such as the happy-go-lucky "Sun Just Shine" (reminding me lyrically of Bruno Mars in parts) and the bonus track, the brilliant "J.J's" with its litany of song titles by Billy Joel, Elton John and others. Also on this 14-song project is an outstanding acoustic version of the 2010 BMI Christian Song Of The Year, "What Faith Can Do" - a number, co-written by Scott, originally recorded by Kutless. It has to be said that 'Fight For Love' is an impressive showcase for one of CCM's greatest songsmiths.
