Cassidy was born in Courtland, Alabama. She grew up amid an extended musical family and this release is her first for the MCG label she signed for in 2006. Her voice and style of tracks offered here reflect her southern upbringing and the musical influences of her childhood, as Cassidy's warm and rich tones weave their way around a sound that is predominantly bluesy but with overtones (sometimes well hidden and sometimes not) of country and gospel. Cassidy writes eight of the 10 songs (40 minutes of music in total) and all of the tracks are personal testimony in variety, with some fairly intimate and vulnerable tales of the work Jesus has done in her life. Cassidy's soulful voice is without doubt the strongest element of this collection; the backings are sometimes a little weak (the title track excepted) and after a good start the album seems to run out of musical ideas from about halfway. Overall though, a great voice.
