I played bass for Bob on his first album, "Welcome To The Family" back in 1972 and still have several copies of the 12" vinyl record. Lovely and warm sounding, with a cardboard jacket containing great graphics BIG ENOUGH TO ACTUALLY SEE!
My lifelong (now) high school buddy, Chief Wilson, provided the drumming tracks and later went on to be one of the finest So Cal musicians. Gary Tosti, another lifelong friend who I first toured Europe with in a Christian band during the summer of 1971, gave some hot sax lines for Bob Cull's first solo outing here.
The album shows deep influences of the time by Richard Carpenter's arranging style, both vocally and instrumentally EXCEPT the stand-out performance of "All I Need Is You". A slow building, strongly emotional calling out to Jesus, the listener (as well as me, the musician!) can do nothing less than want to agree with the artist here. If you haven't heard it, you are missing a real gem.
Although the artist is listed as "Robert Cull", it is Bob's first foray into what became a fruitful ministry in music that surely complimented his future as a teaching pastor. Then came some of his most famous and well known worship songs.......

Is there any way I can get my hands on a 12 inch vinyl album of Welcome to the Family?

The opinions expressed in the Reader Comments are not necessarily those held by Cross Rhythms.
Would be interested in purchasing a cd if it is available.
