I'm afraid i have to agree with Mr Cummings, and i think a few people are missing the point that music is a subjective thing. Some people will like it, some won't. For me , the word average does sum up theis CD. I am in total agreement with the sentiment and the heart of the lyrics, i have no problem with that whatsoever. But musically, it is just a little average and predictable.
I am not judging the man or his heart for God, let me make that clear. It's just that the music doesn't quite stand up and stick in the memory.
This album is great, has been on my itunes/ipod favourites for ages! I bought the album after meeting the band at Spring Harvest this year. They were so open to chatting about stuff and really helped me meet with God.
I've just got back from Spring Harvest (Skegness) and him and the band are great, the way they sing it, is fantastic, and it helped me to become a better christian, I hope he's there next year, it was great. THANKS!!!
i met him once he wasnt very friendly to us...he told us that we wernt allowed to chat with his friends at spring harvest !
I have heard Rex and the band play loads of times, I also have both albums.
Rex's music comes from having an intimate and loving relationship with God. How can anything that stems from that be 'average'.
One of my non Christian friends was so touched by Rex's CD when we were listening to it in one of my classes that she burst into tears but couldn't explain why!
I may be slightly biased as my son is in the band, but as a lover of fine music I would have to disagree with the comments of Mr. Cummings on the grounds that music although now, perhaps, slightly dated is of excellent quality and utilised the talents of some of the top south-coast musicians. I would also like to mention that my other son did the majority of the production work on this album. Yes, I am a proud father.
I run a bookshop and have sold loads of this album on reccomendation. People may not notice it's absence, but then it never got promoted very well. To put Rex Allchurch's vocals in the same league as Hughes/Redman is unfair, he clearly has a richer more accomplished voice than the above. This album has soul and passion, and I can highly recomend it to all who are seeking an honest and beautiful worship set with a rock edge.
I personally love all of rex and the bands music. It leads people into worship so well.. and his lyrics are really blessed and god focused.
correct me if i'm wrong but isnt the whole point of "worship music" to be praise to and for our god. I also recall the bible saying not to judge others..I just think what was said is unfair and unjust. I can't wait for their new album.. what i have heard so far is amazing, and beautiful.
i saw these guys at gnc and they were really talented. I also have the album and it is way beyond average, it is amazing! Their songs really help you to be brought into the presence of God. All the songs mean something and inspire you. Everyone i know who has either got the album or seen them live thinks they are amazing as well
Ahh well, I did my best, as did the band but I completely agree its subjective and what one person likes musically can be completely different to the next. No problem there! Thanks for buying it and I hope in some small way it encourages you and blesses you. Maybe the next one will be more agreeable.
