Piano A Deux hides the identity of husband and wife pianists Robert and Linda Ang Stoodley who on this set take on the works of (despite the title) Bach as well as Bizet, Gershwin, Coats, Lahar and others. Linda has won several awards including the Royal-Overseas League Accompanists Prize and her consummate skill is evident on this intriguing recording featuring a unique combination of styles. The opener "Zigeuner Phantasie" (Kalman), has a ragtime feel to it, while Bach's "Das Wohltemperietre" is intertwined beautifully with Cole Porter's "I Love Paris", creating "Bach Goes To Paris". The Carmen Carnival (Bizet) is a montage of Jose's Aria, overture elements and various cadenzas and is highly enjoyable. "Gershwin In Tiers" is a combination of "Embraceable You", The Man I Love" and "I Got Rhythm" and is deftly performed.
