This is something a bit different! Paul Callan has the technology and he knows how to use it. An album of instrumental music that washes over you in waves of sound that varies from strident and majestic through to reflective pastoral moods. Recorded in the privacy of Paul's bedroom on computer and synthesizer, these pieces are well written and well arranged with a futuristic feel to them. There's enough here to keep interest and although occasionally it slips into 70s Rick Wakeman territory, this is a creative album inspired by a creative God. Fave bits? Well, I like the opening "Strike One" which is ear catching and I enjoyed Mr Callan taking on the old hymn "Thine Be The Glory", given a completely fresh lease of life as "Victory Hymn" and I'm sure 200 years after his death Handel would be well pleased with the result. The profits from the album are going to the Schofield Centre Community Project in Loughborough, so as well as getting hold of an intriguing album; your pennies go to a good cause!
