A quick chat with Stoke-on-Trent-based Neil Buxton, on the phone, revealed that this techno/trance track was created for youth work outreach. It was effectively put to use as backing music for a dance group, raising awareness of the tsunami disaster of December 2004. Many copies were sold and given away to local teenagers, with all profits going to TearFund. For a man working in many different genres, often creating reflective and message-driven music for churches, Mr Buxton is certainly adventurous in this single release. A driving bass-line, with over-the-top effects and jarring synthesisers, make up the six minutes and 40 seconds of, what really is, a bit of a mess. Neil's description is "90s retro dance" certainly covering how painfully out-of-date this sounds. I'm pleased that this CD has sold. Hopefully his next creation will show off his talents to better effect.
