Debut recording from the Cardiff soprano who has sung with the Welsh National Opera and a cluster of top orchestras. This CD displays admirable tonal quality, power allied to expressiveness and exceptional gifts of interpretation. The songs are an unusual collection, featuring wide range of art songs and Lieder, accompanied by pianist Michael Pollock. Schubert's "Ave Maria", the quaint old hymn "Shall We Gather At The River, the Shaker song "Simple Gifts" and the beautiful "Bird Songs At Eventide" stand out in an attractive programme that maintains interest throughout.
