Lou Gramm (born Louis Andrew Grammatico) is a key figure in American rock history and if you don't know the name let me advise that he was the lead singer of Foreigner when they recorded their '80s classics "I Want To Know What Love Is" and "Waiting For A Girl Like You". After his Christian conversion and years of struggle with health issues Lou has now formed a band with his two brothers and a couple of friends, and released this Christian rock album in 2009, which is a thoroughly good listen. Okay, it sounds like old '80s rock, but who cares? "The feeling is wonderful and liberating, to be able to once again record an album of songs that I really care about, with my brothers and my friends making up the band," said Lou. The message is pretty much full on in his songs, which apart from the cover of Billy Preston's "That's The Way God Planned It" and "Testify", Lou had his hand in writing them. Standout tracks are the pulsating opener "Baptized By Fire" followed by "Made To Be Broken". The final track on the US version is "You Saved Me" but the European version ends with "It's Not Too Late". A neat juxtaposition in respect of responding to the message, methinks. Highly recommended.
