The rise and rise of Lindz West and co is one of the most encouraging factors in Britain's Christian music scene and the fact that as I write this LZ7's "Overcome By Love" is the most played track on CR radio says much for the band's creative progress as they blend elements of hip-hop, R&B, pop and dance culture to create something invigorating, fresh and spiritually powerful. "Overcome By Love" is of course their latest collaboration with worship maestro Matt Redman and shows again the surprising fact that Matt's voice works well on a careering dance rhythm. The dubstep-flavoured "Whatever Said", this time with a contribution from MC Guvna B, is another gem with its echoes of The Tribe as LZ7 exhort us to "jump, jump, jump, bass, treble, jump next level." Lindz' heart to help the poor and suffering makes "Give Out The Love" a challenging listen while "Beautiful Exchange", with Demmy White guesting, speaks about the exchange Christ made for us with its freeform rapping "Kinda crazy how these things work. . ./When you came to my life words can't express/So I'm gonna stay and do my best till there's nothing left. . ./See I once was lost, now I'm found/That's classic but that's what keeps me going." LZ7 deserve all our support for their continuing ability to communicate truth to church-goers and non-church-goers, black and white with their thrilling urban pop hybrid.
