Jazz-influenced but also bordering on pop, this four-piece band have professional saxophonist Dan Foster as their point of contact. The 14 compositions on this album, interpretations of a selection of the Psalms, are from Peter James, who also leads vocals and plays keyboards. The tracks were originally recorded live at a church in Harrow and, within its genre, this is a fine album, from the arrangements, vocals and musicianship. The band will be particularly suited to performing at large festival gatherings but would have a need for guest musicians, the likes of which help make this album such a good piece of work. Guests on the album include Raul D'Oliveira on wind instruments and vocalists Charlotte Parmiter and Joanna James.

The band are playing at St. Matthias' Parish Church, Hanford, Stoke-on-Trent on Saturday 31st March 2007. Come along and find out if they actually do need guest musicians! Ring 01782 658322 for details. The band will run a worship/ improvisation workshop in the afternoon if the enough musicians are interested. I certainly am. I caught them at Grapevine, Lincoln - they are terrific. It is jazz and it is worship!
