Josh Harmony is the post-modern New Renaissance Man - a gifted musician (guitarist), articulate lyricist and professional skateboarder (he skates for the Toy Machine Team and has some pretty impressive videos on YouTube) who gets himself around in typically Bohemian fashion in a 1968 bus or on a 1976 Triumph Bonneville. This is his first recording and features six songs expressing his profound faith. His lyrics witness to a deep experience of God and a couple of them have a feel of The Psalms about them ("Strong Tower" and "Holy Is The Lord"). Mr Harmony (what a great name for a singer!) and his selection of guitars (acoustic, electric, dobro, lap steel) is ably assisted in this set by Erick Cole on bass and percussion and Jesse Carmichael on drums. The only drawback to the marriage of lyrics and music on this album is that the lyrics are uplifting and full of praise (especially "Glory, Glory Hallelujah" and "Thank You, Lord") but the music, although skilfully played and beautifully arranged, is rather downbeat. But, there's no doubting the songsmith's ability.
